  • Its a great place to kill a half hour or a whole day, depending on your time limitations. I particularly love the taxidermy floor and all of the amazing pieces of the collection they have to show. The travelling exhibits are expensive but it's nice to have them available. Good gift store and the staff are a pleasure. Great social media presence as well!
  • Great to visit as a tourist. Very well built up area, perfect for a rainy day. Plenty of free things to see, often good paid exhibits too. Awesome to see native Australian animals and insects (preserved) to show visitors from outside Australia
  • To be able to stroll in and witness history like that is wonderful. The information plaques could have been more informative and bigger, some of the fossils didn't even have written by them how long ago they lived. Otherwise nothing to complain about, and I'm sure the paid tours are great as well even though I didn't try any.
  • Great free museum to bring the kids, especially on a hot day. Several floors of science exhibits took about an hour to go through, there are paid exhibits too that we did not check out. There is a small cafe on site, but didn’t look too promising so we ate elsewhere - lots of flies landing on open food, no thanks. Nice little out door area with dinosaur exhibits for the kids to run wild in contrast to the quiet time indoors. It was an awesome visit and super cool that it was free!
  • Great place to take the kids for a few hours during school holidays. There are paid exhibits here too, but the free areas like the animal specimens are always a favourite. Parking is reasonable, pack a bag with swimmers and head over to the Southbank pools to cool off afters. Cheap day out.
