A visit to Green Island will bring you to the tropical paradise on the Great Barrier Reef. Just 27 km (17 mi) offshore from Cairns, this small, sandy island formed on the surface of a coral reef. Snorkel and dive in the cool waters over colorful coral and sealife. Go on a glass-bottom boat or semisubmerged submarine to see the underwater views of starfish, turtles, shells, and fish. Follow the boardwalk through the thick, emerald rainforest to reach the crocodile farm. Rent a locker for your belongings at the island, so that you can explore the place without worry. • We were super disappointed by our day trip to green island. We expected it to be an opportunity to snorkel the great barrier reef. While you can snorkel off the island, it's mainly seagrass and some f...  more »

  • The island is beautiful, but only good for day trip. Definitely NOT diving site. The diving crew are not friendly nor organised..
  • Island itself was beautiful! But the island is overcrowded (surely this must impact on the flora, fauna and fish?) The amenities were absolutely filthy, almost made me vomit. Supposedly a 5 star island...there are far better islands to go to in fnq. I would spend the money elsewhere.
  • Where to begin.....For starters, I didn't think I was in Australia . Everyone on the boat just invading your personal space and no courtesy from anyone. The boat sucked, the snorkeling sucked and granted it was windy, the waters were murky, swallow, grassy...even the fish were pissed. I have had better experiences snorkeling in my bathtub. Very dysfunctional group.....that goes for everyone on board and the crew. The island was ok, but overrun by the ding dong tourists that just kept getting in the way and didn't know what a garbage can was for. Bathrooms were horrid, looked like someone lit off a shitbomb in the toilet and couldn't help but look at it and wonder how in the hell it got the spot it got to. Best part of the trip was at 3:45pm when the boat was heading back. DON'T GO!! It's a tourist trap!! Just telling you as it is.
  • This place is amazing, has so many activities to do like snorkelling. You get the best view of the Great Barrier Reef and you can see some of the most pretty fish there. There was a good variety of food but not enough bins. It’s best to bring a cover for rubbish.
  • Did a day trip to the island. Snorkeling is utter rubbish straight off the island. The reef around this island has been completely desolated by tourists, dead coral and algae everywhere - don’t believe the pictures you see advertised. We even asked the guy at the dive shop where the best place to go was, went there and it was terrible. Suggest doing a boat trip from Cairns straight out to a reef further out. You also can’t sit down at the restaurant and have a beer without buying a meal as well (and the waiter was rude and arrogant) so you have to go to the bar opposite. But there were stuff all tables around the bar that were all taken, contrary there were 4 times the number of tables at the restaurant all but one was empty. It was clear they target the Asian market, I may as well have been in Chinatown. Ship them in, strip their money, ship them out - it was exceptionally crowded. Pity I can’t give them a zero star rating...
