A visit to Green Island will bring you to the tropical paradise on the Great Barrier Reef. Just 27 km (17 mi) offshore from Cairns, this small, sandy island formed on the surface of a coral reef. Snorkel and dive in the cool waters over colorful coral and sealife. Go on a glass-bottom boat or semisubmerged submarine to see the underwater views of starfish, turtles, shells, and fish. Follow the boardwalk through the thick, emerald rainforest to reach the crocodile farm. Rent a locker for your belongings at the island, so that you can explore the place without worry. • Island itself was beautiful! But the island is overcrowded (surely this must impact on the flora, fauna and fish?) The amenities were absolutely filthy, almost made me vomit. Supposedly a 5 star island...there are far better islands to go to in fnq. I would spend the money elsewhere.
  • This place is amazing, has so many activities to do like snorkelling. You get the best view of the Great Barrier Reef and you can see some of the most pretty fish there. There was a good variety of food but not enough bins. It’s best to bring a cover for rubbish.
  • Did a day trip to the island. Snorkeling is utter rubbish straight off the island. The reef around this island has been completely desolated by tourists, dead coral and algae everywhere - don’t believe the pictures you see advertised. We even asked the guy at the dive shop where the best place to go was, went there and it was terrible. Suggest doing a boat trip from Cairns straight out to a reef further out. You also can’t sit down at the restaurant and have a beer without buying a meal as well (and the waiter was rude and arrogant) so you have to go to the bar opposite. But there were stuff all tables around the bar that were all taken, contrary there were 4 times the number of tables at the restaurant all but one was empty. It was clear they target the Asian market, I may as well have been in Chinatown. Ship them in, strip their money, ship them out - it was exceptionally crowded. Pity I can’t give them a zero star rating...
  • Went there with my family. Everything was so overpriced. I get that this is a tourist destination but the people there made us pay for everything. Even seats cost money. We decided to go snorkeling and there was absolutely nothing to see. All the coral had been destroyed by other tourists and the water was very murky. We went to the Emeralds restaurant for lunch and the manager/waiter's attitude was just disgusting. He literally told us to order or get out. Never have I experienced such rudeness from any waiter. It also felt like he avoided our table on purpose. The food there was mediocre too. I would have expected more for the price. We only ate there because it had shelter from the rain. I expected more from Green Island considering how expensive everything is and how much trouble you have to go through to get there.
  • The island is packed with activities (pool, shops, restaurants, etc) and has a beautiful beach. Definitely would come back again
