#2 of 12 in Shopping in Cairns
Stay up late at Night Markets, popular with tourists from around the world. Open late each night of the week, these markets are a collection of stalls catering mainly to foreign travelers, with vendors selling clothes, handmade crafts, souvenirs, food, beverages, and jewelry. Inspired by similar markets found all around East Asia, Cairns’ night markets were created as a convenient way for local merchants to satisfy the growing tourist demand for inexpensive but well-made local products. Today, you can visit over 130 stalls at a pleasantly air-conditioned shopping center, located on the city’s popular Esplanade. • To be honest, puffy nipples to kill time from getting and just enough. Bought more souvenirs have not changed price. Full of Japanese people and the clerk selling strong. Did not feel good.

  • We had high expectations of the night market and like it was okay. So many Australian souvenirs that you can get anywhere and some places harassed you when walking past. Did have a very good tarot rea...  more »
  • The night market opens at 4pm and is a great place to pick up some souvenirs to take back home with you. Prices are better than any store. We bought a bunch of stuff from an Aboriginal man who made al...  more »

  • A real mix of good aboriginal art and handicrafts alongside some cheap and ritzy Chinese souvenirs. I personally prefer to buy local whenever I travel, even though it means paying a little bit more. At least I know that the local arts and crafts is being supported by my purchase. This time I bought a few boomerangs from Robbie who owns the aboriginal boomerang and didgeridoo store in the middle of the night market. The food is pretty touristy, catering primarily to the large Asian tourist market. It's cheap enough that you can try a few different things if you'd like. The massage parlors are prolific and pretty good and inexpensive. In summary, it's a nice place to kill a few hours, grab a quick bite and pick up some authentic souvenirs and get a great massage. Afterwards you can cross the street and take a dip in the warm salt water lagoon.
  • $10 feed from the Korean place - 3 choice of Viand and your choice of carb (rice or noodles) and served on a sizzling plate! Definitely recommended vs the other places serving same sorta menu Also visit the guy making on-the-spot glass creations. He can make whatever you want and better to pay cash so he doesn’t incur bank charges 👍
  • This is a great place to take your visitors while they are in Cairns. A vast array of speciality stalls ranging from glass making to souvenirs. They also have several stalls for cheap massages so long as you don't take on there extras at $10 per heat pad. Very cosmopolitan and a must see for all visitors to the north.
  • Great place to eat. Lots to see. Beware where you park though as hundreds of bat's in trees. Our car was literally covered in bat poo. Went straight to car wash.
  • Great local stores. The glass guy at the back of the markets is great! Also, the guy running silver gem Cairns is a great guy. If you go there, be sure to check out the desert places at the back off the markets! The churros guy is a great guy!
