Aquascene, Darwin

3.5
#7 of 18 in Parks in Darwin
Time your visit to Aquascene for high tide when hundreds of fish approach the shore to be fed by curious onlookers. You get to hand-feed the fish while dangling your feet in the water. Though some of the bigger fish sometimes nibble on your toes, not even the scariest-looking ones ever bite hard. The site is known for its friendly atmosphere and helpful staff. You can mingle with visitors from around the world, all enjoying this rare close-up experience with Australia's underwater world. When planning your visit, remember that feeding times are dependent on the tide, so be sure to check the website or call ahead for the schedule. • We were advised to go here at high tide and as it was on the way to a waterfront restaurant to meet some friends, we called in. Certainly not worth the cost of $35 for a senior and an adult for a five...  more »

  • Great experience! A must for anyone visiting Darwin, easy to get to by car or foot. The day we went there was around 5 different types of fish, apparently they can vary. Plenty of bread left out to feed them, by hand if you wish. A guide was on duty for the whole time we were there using her experience to entice some of the more shy fish out into the open. Take note of feeding times as it is tide dependant.
  • Wonderful attraction, was amazing getting so close to the fish and such a variety of them, staff are very friendly and helpful, all the fish types are explained and the set up is very user friendly, the kids love it as they can interact with wild fish they even have some mud crabs in an open pen so you get to see them too over all it is well worth the visit
  • A great place to be swarmed by fish! We enjoyed it and will come back again to see different fish.
  • This is an interesting experience to see large amounts of fish. They provide bred so you can feed them. They also have someone providing information on the fish and commentary which is always great. Check their website for opening times but basically it is high tide. They have a gift shop. It was $15 per adult in Dec 2017.
  • Great experience. Got there early in the morning and so not as many people were there until an hour or two later.
