  • Very interesting pieces on display. Its a smallish museum, I went with my young son and we were there for about an hour (you could probably spend half a day maximum if you read everything, we mostly looked at the displays and I would read some of the more interesting information out). The gift shop is great too, lots of books and keepsakes, as well as some cool stuff for kids. My son got a plush hammerhead shark which he loves. It's a short walk to the Roundhouse so doing both in a day is a good idea as the Roundhouse doesn't take too long to look around either.
  • What an interesting place to expand your knowledge of Australia's history. The guides are very knowledgeable and if you are not time limited stay and listen to the talks. I especially want to thank the guide David for his detailed talk on the history of Dutch exploration of the Australian coastline. If you can find David in the spices section have a chat! There is a large exhibit on the Batavia mutiny and shipwreck. Plenty more to see than the photos show. Best of all entry is free with donation greatly appreciated.
  • A really fascinating and incredible experience! I'm not super interested in boats and shipwrecks in general, but the museum was still a great and informative experience for me. The information and displays were well presented and I had a great time. Would recommend.
  • The place in Fremantle that I went to twice during our stay. The remains of the ships that were lost off the West Australian coast hundreds of years ago and the history of the crews as well as the early history of West Australia are very well documented and I spent hours watching the documentations. It is unimaginable that after a shipwreck off the West Australian coast a captain and some of this crew would row to Java in a small boat to get help for the survivors! There is no admission fee for the museum, but make sure you leave a donation so that the museum can continue its great work.
  • Worth a look with a huge array of items to explore. The ancient wreck of the Batavia is awesome & this display alone makes the visit worthwhile. So many amazing & different pieces of interest from cups to cannons.
