Kalleske Wines, Greenock

#2 of 6 in Things to do in Greenock
In South Australia’s Barossa Valley, the Kalleske family have been farming and growing grapes since 1853 on their family estate at Greenock. After six generations of growing grapes, winemaker and seventh generation family member, Troy Kalleske, together with his brother Tony, established the Kalleske winery and made the first ‘Kalleske’ wine. The vineyard is low yielding with grapes grown organically and biodynamically and the winery is also certified biodynamic/organic. Wines from Kalleske have been seven generations in the making, but they are certainly worth the wait!

  • Alex was fantastic in explaining the history and benefits of the organic and biodynamic wine making processes they use. Even gave us a special older vintage Shiraz . Kids could play on the lawns out the back and play with the games and toys supplied.
  • My name is Geoff and my wife and family came to the Barossa for two days of wine tastings, in order to celebrate my 70th. My wife and I came from the UK, our daughter flew from Singapore and our son and his wife came from Sydney. The last time we visited the Barossa was 14 years ago, so we were hoping for a really great time. Our two days were just amazing, tasting a total of 105 wines and I can honestly say that Alex at Kalleske's was by far the most hospitable of all those cellar doors we visited. She really knew her stuff, she was always smiling and engaging, and she represented Kalleske's so professionally. Two other wineries suggested that we visited Kalleske's, as did our private tour guide Chris. We were all so very pleased to have changed our programme to include Kalleske's during our second day. Needless to say we came away with a number of purchases, which were at very reasonable prices for the quality of wines we selected. Thank you Alex and Kalleske's for all that you do.
  • Such a glorious winery in a beautiful little town. Alex exceptionally helpful. Wine is divine
  • Alex was exceptional! The wines were all amazing and it was one of the best experiences we have had to date! Can't wait to go back for the VIP tasting.
  • Alex is a legend and the wines were great!!
