  • This museum presents diverse and interesting collections that can teach us a lot about Tasmania and also the Antarctic. Also, we enjoyed an interesting temporary exhibition on the Tasmanian Devil. The numismatic collection is of great interest.

  • This museum had a lot of different displays with something to interest anyone. While I was there they had a special exhibit on Tasmanian Devils. It was very extensive with a lot of information.  more »

  • Great exhibits. Good place to learn about Tasmanian tigers. Good Antarctic display. There are nice kid projects. A great way to entertain up to about 12 years old. Cookies in the cafe were terrible.
  • Free entry and tours. Good for the whole family. Thylacine exhibition very much a highlight. Would be good if you could bring your water bottles with you or else provide water coolers. Plenty of things to see. Good place to come to on very hot days.
  • Very fond memories of a year ago, great collection well presented and labelled. I liked the Antarctic display particularly!
  • Very limited exhibitions, but very well made and interesting. Usually I would've rated this with 4 stars, but considering the entry is free, this is awesome value and really enjoyable.
  • MONA gets all the attention but the Tassie Museum wins my heart. Activities like Tassie Devil origami and crayon stencil art to complement their exhibits are a thoughtful addition for young children. The child-centred curation is particularly obvious in the Tasmanian Devil exhibit where spaces are hidden inside dark nooks to encourage exploration, discovery and to see the world through the eyes of a Tassie Devil. What a surprising delight! ...and did I mention there's free entry?
