Wentworth Falls, Katoomba

4.7
#2 of 6 in Parks in Katoomba
Situated within the Blue Mountains World Heritage National Park, Wentworth Falls is the largest waterfall in the region, featuring two drops. The waterfall is near several aboriginal sites estimated at being around 20,000 years old. A lake formed by the cascading waterfall is a popular picnic spot, located just a short walk from the nearby village. You can swim or join the Darwin's Walk tour, named after Charles Darwin, who visited and researched the area. Be prepared for a lot of steps on the various walks offered, which can take you to the waterfall or to the nearby viewing platform. These steep trails are meant for all fitness levels, but be sure to wear comfortable shoes. Add Wentworth Falls and other attractions to your Katoomba trip itinerary using our Katoomba travel app .

  • I was a bit disappointed with this natural wonder. Unless you go after a heavy down pour there isn't all that much to see sadly. Despite this however, the surrounding area and the scenery is amazing!!...  more »
  • One of the largest waterfalls in the neighborhood. You have to have it for free but if you take the stairs down and so again to high. You can literally down under the waterfall. Along the way you have prachtigen view points. You're there almost 2 hours me busy don't forget that.

  • Went on a trail from Wentworth and took 1.25 hours. Easy in most places but part of wood walkway needs major repairs. Walk to base is far then you have to walk up. Be healthy. Falls are great.  more »

  • A gorgeous part of the mountains. Great walks for all levels and accessible parking. Fantastic photo opportunities It is can be very busy (particularly during the holiday periods) but well worth the trip
  • Wentworth Falls is a must see just like the Three Sisters. Just after a relatively short treck you'll arrive at the Wentworth Falls waterfall which is magnificent. The waterfall falls down into the forest down below. As you keep making your way down you'll see better and better angles of the waterfall. Defiantly a must see.
  • Awesome scenery. Would highly recommend walking on the laid out paths as they take you on spectacular walks with breath taking views.
  • We have been here 2 times and the view is amazing. At the weekend there are a lot of tourists but you always find a place to park your car at the side of the street. There are several walking tracks and you can choose the one who suits your fitness or time best. If you just have an hour you can go down to the waterfalls but I would recommend to take the 3-4h tour of the national pass. We needed 2,5h to walk this closed loop track. Walking shoes are recommended but not neccesary.
  • good place for an hour or two hike. Going down the stair/mountains is easy but going back up is the hard part!
