Wentworth Falls, Katoomba

4.7
#2 of 6 in Parks in Katoomba
Situated within the Blue Mountains World Heritage National Park, Wentworth Falls is the largest waterfall in the region, featuring two drops. The waterfall is near several aboriginal sites estimated at being around 20,000 years old. A lake formed by the cascading waterfall is a popular picnic spot, located just a short walk from the nearby village. You can swim or join the Darwin's Walk tour, named after Charles Darwin, who visited and researched the area. Be prepared for a lot of steps on the various walks offered, which can take you to the waterfall or to the nearby viewing platform. These steep trails are meant for all fitness levels, but be sure to wear comfortable shoes. Add Wentworth Falls and other attractions to your Katoomba trip itinerary using our Katoomba travel app .

  • A beautiful town. Nature there is inspiring... The most amazing cloud formations I have ever seen. Sunsets there are magical. Crisp fresh air. The walk to the Falls is a must do!
  • Undeniably beautiful location, especially perfect during a sunny day as the lower area of the Wentworth Falls Track is under shade with a nice mist from the falls. The track itself has quite a few stairs to the bottom, so be prepared for a bit of a hike back up, however it's very very worth the journey! A must visit for everyone able to make the walk down, I'd say this view is even better than the Three Sisters, and that area is amazing too!
  • Hike down the track to the waterfall where you find the creek cascading over colourful sandstone into a shallow pool before plunging over the escarpment. Nice spot to linger longer. Cool your feet in the water whilst taking in the panoramic veiws.
  • Gorgeous views, the Wentworth falls are an outstanding place to see in the Blue Mountains a beautiful natural wonder. A really fabulous easy walk with amazing natural beauty. Great bushwalks right down to the Wentworth falls or easy viewing points to get an outstanding viewpoint to see all the Wentworth falls from above. Comfortable picnic area, easy parking, a variety of different walks to have totally different experiences above the cliffs, below the cliffs and all around the Wentworth falls.
  • Good stop on the way into the Blue Mountains, with some nice hiking trails. Good view into the valley and you can walk up to the falls. Not as crowded as some other lookouts as well so this one is ok for midday.
