  • I hadn’t been to the Melbourne zoo in 20 years so I was really looking forward to seeing the new enclosures for the elephants and the big cats/ lions exhibit. I remember how these were years ago, so i...  more »
  • Let's start with the fact that I hate zoos. To me, it is a waste of time walking from one enclosure to another looking at stressed out animals in cages. BUT Melbourne Zoo is no ordinary zoo. There is ...  more »
  • I went back to the zoo after 20 years. The first time we have been as a child is for me is a happy memory, the first zoo I have ever seen. Unfortunately this time many areas were closed as there was construction going on but it's always very organized and clean.

  • Absolutely a must visit for a family. They taken very good care of the place and the animals. It's easy to find you way around. But would advise to come early as it would take few hours to explore all. Or buy a family membership and visit in chunks. The elephant trails was absolutely amazing. It felt like it was heaven for them. Ample parking available but paid. It's quite cheap.
  • A great place to spend the day with plenty of parking and reasonable admission prices. I was surprised how close you can get to the animals which look to be well cared for with big enclosures that emulate the animals natural habitat. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommended for locals and visitors.
  • We were there in earlier Feb and were so lucky the weather was cooling and windy! We reached there about 10am and managed to explore the whole zoo at about 3pm. I am in love with the zoo! It is designed in such a way that there are at least two different angles you can see the animals from. So if they are hiding, you may still see them at another angle of the same enclosure. The zoo is also alike to natural habitats with lots of trees and stoney grounds. This is unlike Singapore’s zoo, where there is more roads and paths. And the butterfly area where the butterflies fly freely, it is just amazing. Food is definitely expensive there but the chicken nuggets and chips were tasty. It was a fun day for us ;).
  • I was thoroughly impressed with the Melbourne Zoo! Wow! The zoo has been extensively redeveloped over the years and it is simply stunning to see such incredible creatures up close and in very natural environments. We took our two year old toddler who just loved the Orangutans and the Butterfly House. The giraffes and elephants are simply amazing. There are nice cool forest environments to walk through and the animals are very well cared for. They all seem healthy and content. We were also pleased with the options available for lunch with a bakery, a pizzeria, and an Asian-style and Western-style cafe. Parking was not too expensive, with the fee being $2 for 5 hours. I cannot recommend this experience highly enough. I Loved!
  • Great place I took my girlfriend, she loved it. Really big and a fair price for entry, would come back because there is so much to see. She loved the giraffes- so many animals.
