A neat, cosmopolitan city of shaded plazas and laid-back neighborhoods, Cairns serves as a popular base for exploration of the surrounding region and the Great Barrier Reef, as well as a center for watersport activities like surfing or waterskiing.
Discover out-of-the-way places like Trinity Beach and Palm Cove Beach. Visiting Agincourt Reef and Australian Butterfly Sanctuary will get you outdoors. Step out of Cairns to go to Port Douglas and see Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas, which is approximately 1h 20 min away. Spend the 11th (Sat) among aquatic life with a scuba or snorkeling tour.
