Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
You'll get in some beach time at Long Beach and Seven Mile Beach. Get some historical perspective at Cascades Female Factory Historic Site and Battery Point. Take a break from Hobart with a short trip to Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary in Brighton, about 30 minutes away. There's still lots to do: examine the collection at Mona, steep yourself in history at Cascade Brewery, buy something for everyone on your list at Cat and Fiddle Arcade, and kick back and relax at Bellerive Beach.
