A neat, cosmopolitan city of shaded plazas and laid-back neighborhoods, Cairns serves as a popular base for exploration of the surrounding region and the Great Barrier Reef, as well as a center for watersport activities like surfing or waterskiing.
Take a break from the city and head to Trinity Beach and Scuba & Snorkeling. Explore hidden gems such as Daintree National Park and Spas & Wellness. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Cairns: Hartley's Crocodile Adventures (in Palm Cove) and Australian Butterfly Sanctuary (in Kuranda). There's lots more to do: enjoy unforgettable views with a balloon tour, head off the coast to Michaelmas Cay, take in nature's colorful creations at Munro Martin Parklands, and let the kids burn off some steam at Muddy's Playground.

Queensland’s biggest town and state capital, Brisbane has an attractive, manicured image based around its riverside aesthetic as well as the contrast between its high-rise center and extensive urban greenery.
Step out of the city life by going to Kings Beach and Mooloolaba Beach. Relax by the water at Burleigh Heads Beach and Bulcock Beach. Venture out of the city with trips to Maleny (Maleny Dairies & Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve), Tanawha Valley Golf & Tennis (in Tanawha) and Maroochydore Beach (in Maroochydore). And it doesn't end there: look for all kinds of wild species at Burleigh Head National Park, admire all the interesting features of Suncorp Stadium, stop by MaisyMoo, and take in the views from Story Bridge.
