Queensland’s biggest town and state capital, Brisbane has an attractive, manicured image based around its riverside aesthetic as well as the contrast between its high-rise center and extensive urban greenery.
Step off the beaten path and head to Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve and Scuba & Snorkeling. Tweed Regional Gallery & Margaret Olley Art Centre and Museum of Brisbane will appeal to museum buffs. Change things up with these side-trips from Brisbane: Montville (Artworks in Clay by Anne Gentry-Smith & Montville Art Gallery), Bee Gees Way (in Redcliffe) and Fingal Head Lighthouse (in Fingal Head). There's much more to do: explore the wealth of natural beauty at Burleigh Head National Park, take in the views from Story Bridge, enjoy the sand and surf at Maroochydore Beach, and get a taste of the local shopping with Art on Cairncross.
