A neat, cosmopolitan city of shaded plazas and laid-back neighborhoods, Cairns serves as a popular base for exploration of the surrounding region and the Great Barrier Reef, as well as a center for watersport activities like surfing or waterskiing.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Cairns: Port Douglas (Scuba & Snorkeling, Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas, & more) and Palm Cove (Hartley's Crocodile Adventures, Spas & Wellness, & more). The adventure continues: trek along Esplanade Boardwalk, head outdoors with Esplanade Lagoon Pool, take in nature's colorful creations at Botanical Gardens, and get out on two wheels at Trail Bike Adventures.

Bournemouth, UK to Cairns is an approximately 25-hour combination of train and flight. You can also do a combination of train and flight; or do a combination of train and flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 10 hours traveling from Bournemouth to Cairns. Traveling from Bournemouth in July, expect Cairns to be a bit warmer, temps between 30°C and 20°C. On the 31st (Tue), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can travel to Adelaide.
