Albany

Founded as a military outpost in 1826, Albany is the oldest town in Western Australia, just barely gaining this title by being settled two years earlier than Fremantle and Perth.
Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at South Coast WoodWorks Gallery and Albany Town Hall. Your inner history buff will appreciate Princess Royal Fortress and The Albany Convict Gaol & Museum. Spend the 10th (Wed) observing fascinating marine mammals with a dolphin and whale watching tour. There's much more to do: tour the pleasant surroundings at Little Beach, Two Peoples Bay Nature Reserve, admire the landmark architecture of The Church of Saint John the Evangelist, enjoy the sand and surf at Middleton Beach, and get great views at Rotary Lookout Albany.
