Queensland’s biggest town and state capital, Brisbane has an attractive, manicured image based around its riverside aesthetic as well as the contrast between its high-rise center and extensive urban greenery.
Start off your visit on the 11th (Wed): explore the activities along The Brisbane River, then get lost in a book at State Library Of Queensland, and then enjoy the sand and surf at Shorncliffe Beach. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 12th (Thu): identify plant and animal life at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary and then get great views at Mount Coot-tha Lookout.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to Brisbane is an approximately 25-hour flight. You can also do a combination of bus and flight. The time zone changes from Brasilia Time to Australian Eastern Standard Time (Queensland), which is usually a 13 hour difference. A holiday in Port Douglas balances an activity-filled getaway with plenty of opportunities to relax, thanks to its proximity to the Great Barrier Reef and bustling beach life.
For shopping fun, head to With Sugar or Funstuff by Lynda. You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas and Scuba & Snorkeling. Spend the 16th (Mon) spotting exotic species with a safari tour. There's lots more to do: relax in the rural setting at Hartley's Crocodile Adventures, stop by Coffee Works, trot along with a tour on horseback, and head outdoors with Horses in Port.

You can do a combination of flight and shuttle from Brisbane to Port Douglas in 6.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus, flight, and shuttle; or drive. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 18th (Wed) to allow time to drive to Cairns.

A neat, cosmopolitan city of shaded plazas and laid-back neighborhoods, Cairns serves as a popular base for exploration of the surrounding region and the Great Barrier Reef, as well as a center for watersport activities like surfing or waterskiing.
Discover out-of-the-way places like Palm Cove Beach and Rainforest Gems Gallery & Studio. Kids will enjoy Scuba & Snorkeling and Granite Gorge Nature Park. Go for a jaunt from Cairns to Mareeba to see Jaques Coffee Plantation about 1 hour away.
