Rymill Park, Adelaide

3.3
Rymill Park, also known as Park 14 or Mullawirraburka in Kaurna, is a recreation park located in the East Park Lands of the South Australian capital of Adelaide. It is bordered by East and Dequetteville Terraces, and Rundle and Bartels Roads. It is in close proximity to the Adelaide Botanic Garden, Hutt Street, and Victoria Park. The park occupies 14.5ha, and is named after Sir Arthur Rymill, Lord Mayor of Adelaide from 1950 to 1954 and council member for 23 years. The lake was constructed in 1959 and the rose gardens were created in the 1960s by excavating what was then the Bartels Road rubbish tip. Rowboats are available for hire at the park's kiosk, exclusively for use on the park's lake. Other features of the park include rose gardens, playgrounds, avenues of well established trees, barbecue facilities and a statue of Alice by John Dowie, inspired by Lewis Carroll's stories for children.

  • It is a quiet park on the East side of the city. Enough trees and lush areas and bridges, along with lake views in a comfortable trail looks around.

  • The Park stopped at rest when walking around town after the breakfast. There are tossing around the birds to clean and maintain, also seen in Japan, it's very healed. Scale Botanicals is larger, this is no car was to slow.

  • Rymill Park always seems a bit under-utilised unless there's an actual event (eg car racing). The little lake with row boats for hire is very cute and is teeming with ducks, which offers lots of enter...  more »

  • GREAT spot for a picnic or just kick a footy around with your kids or friends.
  • Great location and venues for the Adelaide fringe in this area during march. Well laid out in regard to ticket booths, eating venues, bars, stages for performances, live acts, toilets and sit down areas. A must see place when the fringe is on. Adelaide really comes alive as the clipsal is also located nearby.
  • In the heart of the city, such a lovely place to enjoy the fresh air!
  • It's a lovely urban park mates.
  • Nice spot to have a relaxing time or go for a picnic. Sitting down on the bench and watching ducks is nice and peaceful.
