Mammoth Cave, Boranup

4.5
#3 of 42 in Parks in Margaret River Region
Step into a prehistoric world inside of Mammoth Cave. The main chamber is 500 m (1,640 ft) long and lies 30 m (98 ft) below the ground. On your self-guided tour, you'll see fossils of prehistoric animals discovered in the cave. The staff here provide an MP3 player and headphones to deliver information as you explore the ambient-lit caverns. The main chamber is wheelchair-accessible, but the other chambers contain stairs. The long path from the end of the caves back to the reception area passes through a swampy area, so bring insect repellent if you visit in summer. • Incredible cave with really easy to navigate walkways the whole way along. We had to wait 45 minutes to be let in because we came during the super busy season down in this region. The gift store out front has a great selection of small items to buy and a great range from small children's items to collector items for yourself or people back home.
  • One of three exciting caves in the area. Must see along with Lake and Jewel cavers. This one is self guided so come any time, booking don’t needed. Expect a bit of crowds to entry during public holidays. Don’t forget something warm cause temperature could easily go down to 12 degrees even in a warm summer day. And be ready for some physical activity at the exit - it’s steep set of hundred plus stairs
