One of Brisbane’s most renowned sights, elaborate, stone-columned City Hall stands out against the backdrop of a number of the city’s glassy skyscrapers. Opened in 1920 and built in the style of the Italian Renaissance, the building has hosted royal receptions, concerts, flower shows, and political meetings. The 91 m (298 ft) clock tower makes City Hall one of the most iconic, recognizable images of Brisbane. City Hall Reviews
On the third floor in the City Hall you can have a free 15 minutes tour of the clock tower which has a great view over the city. Interesting and informative. Small museum too with a little bit of the ... more »
As a city hall it's its more than a town hall. Built to withstand any natural disasters and be a place of meeting and direction. Don't miss out of the only WW1 captured German tank. more »
Fascinating history and building. Make sure you do the free guided tour as they will show you around places you won't find on your own. Our guide took us into the council chambers and last time I got to see the Lord Mayor's office. The auditorium is beautiful space and I'd love to see the organ being played. Highly recommend the Brisbane Museum too.
Entree is free to this magnificent structure. Quite a few things to explore here. Took a walk upstairs through the magnificent steps to visit the auditorium, which was beautiful. I believe they have free guided tours. Also, visited the top of the tower close to where the clock is located in the restored lift, which is close to 100 years old. Again it was free, but you need to get your tickets in advance as places for each tour is strictly limited. They also have a small museum situated here that shows the history of Brisbane City. Loved my experience here.
