Very lovely place to visit and provides you with extensive history about James Cook and the local Cooktown area. I was also amazed at the size of the anchor when we walked through the front door.
The James Cook Museum Cooktown is located in a former convent now a National Trust property. There is an extensive collection of historic artefacts from the local area. A highlight is the Endeavour Gallery which provides an insight into the 7 weeks Cook & his crew spent here. The anchor and a cannon from the Endeavour are on display. This museum is well worth a visit.
