Selwyn Snow Resort, Cooma

#3 of 11 in Winter Sports in New South Wales
Learn to ski or snowboard at Selwyn Snow Resort, a small Snowy Mountains ski resort located near Cabramurra, the highest city in Australia. The resort traces its origins to the nearby town of Kiandra, which is considered the birthplace of Australian skiing. The skiing facilities of Kiandra were transferred to this location in 1978, where modern triple chairlifts replaced what had once been Australia’s very first T-bar lifts. The resort also includes over 45 km (28 mi) of cross-country trails, with gentle slopes suited to beginners and families with small children. The steeper gradient of the resort’s Racecourse Run provides more challenging terrain for advanced skiers and snowboarders looking for a bit of adventure. • Great spot for beginners my sons aged 5 and 6 took the 2 hour lessons and had a fabulous time. After lunch the boys were both going down the slopes with a few falls but did so well after the lessons. ...  more »
  • Good introduction to the snowfields for our non-skiing family. Visited on the Sunday (day 2) of the opening of ski season. There were plenty of spaces to just muck around in the snow. We arrived at 3p...  more »

  • Tracks are good and people are there to help you out. We went there in peak holiday time and couldn't find the right clothes for my group. Waited in the Que line for an hour to get the hire Ski. My first experience here is good but not great. Before you go,transfer the money into your card account or carry cash as its hard to find wifi or network there.
  • We waited over an hour in line just to get to first lot of registers, where only 1 of 3 were open, then another 45 mins to get our hire gear. The toilets are disgusting, the smell absolutely terrible. Other than that, the fields were good for kids and beginners, but some rubber mats along the sides of the toboggan slope would be helpful to the kids and adults trekking back up the hill. With a little bit of TLC & some flushing toilets, this place could be great.
