This national park is only 5 Km from the town of Dampier (not to be confused with the Dampier peninsula located north of Broome in about 900 Km from the town of Dampier). This fact sheet on Deep Throat is so not in the right region we're not in the PILBARA and the Kimberley! We voluntarily made a detour between Exmouth and the Karijini NP for a night at Karratha: the aim of this site of petroglyphs (obviously one of the largest in Australia). We have not regretted it! It is beautiful, with a countless number of engravings. The site seems not enough highlighted given the quality of the petroglyphs and unprotected... gas facilities are everywhere on the peninsula. There is no card with the main engravings at the entrance to the throat. Therefore, open your eyes but to Miss 90%, maybe more... The trail does not danger but it really makes very hot (it takes a lot of water especially with children). It seems to me better to visit in late afternoon to have a luminosity more suited to photographs. The presence of many kangaroos in the throat. In conclusion:-do not hesitate to move to Karratha - Dampier nothing that for this short visit (the interest of these 2 industrial cities is quite limited in him even). -Although the number of comments is abnormally limited on Tripadvisor, in my opinion it is a must-see site for a visit to the Australia. Still my admiration for the men who carved these rocks there are about 30 000ans.
