Aquascene, Darwin

#7 of 19 in Parks in Darwin
Time your visit to Aquascene for high tide when hundreds of fish approach the shore to be fed by curious onlookers. You get to hand-feed the fish while dangling your feet in the water. Though some of the bigger fish sometimes nibble on your toes, not even the scariest-looking ones ever bite hard. The site is known for its friendly atmosphere and helpful staff. You can mingle with visitors from around the world, all enjoying this rare close-up experience with Australia's underwater world. When planning your visit, remember that feeding times are dependent on the tide, so be sure to check the website or call ahead for the schedule. • We came here upon a recommendation from a friend who lives in Darwin. So glad we did! We watched the fish approach in vast numbers as the tide quickly came in, and fed them the bread provided. It was ...  more »
  • We were advised to go here at high tide and as it was on the way to a waterfront restaurant to meet some friends, we called in. Certainly not worth the cost of $35 for a senior and an adult for a five...  more »
  • We were able to feed the fish while listening to the staff provide commentary on the types of fish that were coming in to be fed.  more »

  • Feeding the fish is great fun. Make sure you hold the bread right under the water. The fish will come up and gently take it out of your hand. If you look closely you will see many fish species including queen fish, stingrays, barramundi and much more We stayed for 2 hours and fed the fish. We had a great time. Highly recommended
  • Great host. Great sunset view. Saw lots of stingrays. got nice shots of the fish swimming near my feet. Lots of space. Saw maybe 8 different kinds of fish.
  • This is so fun. Lovely statues and a wealth of fish, lovely staff. The highlight of our trip for me, love those cute fishes swimming around my feet and nibbling my fingers. Felt nice to be on the giving end to the sea.
  • A great place to take the kids for an hour or so. Times to visit depend on the tides. We got a yearly pass for a small amount extra.
  • Great place to visit. Entertaining for all ages. Easy to get to and plenty of parking.
