The Casuarina Coastal Reserve Landcare Group manages one revegetation area in the dunes 200m north of the last Daribah Road car park. We have another site accessible from Rocklands Drive 200m behind the sewer pumping station at the start of the mangrove board walk. We meet monthly on the third Sunday around 8.30 at one of the sites to plant, water, remove weeds, birdwatch...aiming to enjoy being in the natural habitats of the Reserve.

Casuarina Coastal Reserve protects about 1500ha between the estuaries of Rapid Creek and Buffalo Creek in the Darwin area. It includes 8 km of sandy beaches, dramatic cliffs and shady casuarina trees. Behind the dunes are lush monsoon forests, mangroves, paperbarks and woodlands. Wildfire and invasive grasses are the main threats we working to reduce.

The Larrakia people speak for this area and maintain links with the land, its sacred and significant sites include Dariba Nunggalinya (Old Man Rock) visible at low tide from Dripstone Cliffs lookout. Although fishing is permitted, disturbing the rock in any way or the removal of shellfish at this site is prohibited. Also in the Reserve are World War II artillery observation posts providing a reminder of the area's wartime involvement.
