Liffey Falls, Deloraine

#1 of 8 in Things to do in Deloraine
Part of Tasmania’s enormous World Heritage Wilderness Area, Liffey Falls is believed to have been used as an aboriginal meeting place for many centuries. Located inside a protected nature reserve, noted for cool rain forests teeming with diverse plant and animal life, the waterfall is a popular picnic spot for visitors and locals. The area offers numerous photo opportunities, as well as a number of nature walks leading into the forests of huge eucalyptus and fern trees. As you walk through the area, stop by several smaller waterfalls, all of which are easily accessible. Don’t forget to bring your camera, and be sure to wear comfortable shoes and fairly warm clothes as temperatures can drop relatively quickly inside the forested areas. • The cascading falls at waterfalls are a wonderful experience. If you're on for some adventure take the detour to Liffey Falls from the highway. The 6km stretch of gravel road is nice and winds down to a narrow road for the last 1km. There's a 20min short walk to the waterfalls from car park. There's also a camping ground about 1.5 hours from the Falls.
  • Lower liffey falls camping area was a disgraceful mess yesterday. The one sole toilet wasn't flushing and was broken and it seemed like it hadn't function at all this week judging by the toilet paper strewn in small deposits around the bushes of the campground. The walk is a must too see a marvelous environment ..
