  • I decided this photo best showcased what Taronga Western Plains zoo is like. It's a zoo that is accessible. You feel so much like you can get as close as is possible to the animals in a safe manner (for yourself and for the animals). All animals are penned in a similar fashion in which you can see them clearly without wires or fences as an obstruction, they are given opportunity to hide if they so choose and even the animals in the petting parts of the zoo are offered that same relief if they feel the humans are just a bit too much for the time being... We considered this well thought out, well laid out and a great balance...
  • By far the best Zoo in New South Wales. Pretty open, big and nice clean environment. Great for both kids and adults. I've visited many major zoos in NSW..but this one beats them all. The ticket pricing is also very affordable considering how much smaller zoos/parks charge.
  • This is more of a sanctuary than a zoo. It did not feel like the animals were kept in captivity but in their natural habitat. The zoo talks were informative and interesting- it allowed the visitors to see the animals up close and learn a bit about the care they receive at the zoo. There is a lot to see so the 2 consecutive day tickets were useful - also it's a 5 hour drive from Sydney. There are several "add ons" you could participate in for an additional fee to the zoo entry. We paid $7/ person to feed giraffe and it was well worth it. We also rented bikes to get from one exhibit to another and it was entertaining for the kids.
  • Awesome place to visit. Great for the family and it educational and fun. With a 5KM track you can walk the zoo for some exercise and take your time or you can drive your car around. I personally hired a buggy it that was perfect to sight see. I think most importantly the animals seem to be well looked after and everyone there is extremely professional.
  • A must do if you are near Dubbo. Affiliated with Taronga zoo Sydney, with same level of dedication and professionalism. Keepers very willing to share their knowledge at the scheduled presentations. If at all possible, hire or bring your own bike. Pedal power is absolutely the best way to experience this zoo.
