Hike up the east slope of Frenchman's Peak and you'll be rewarded with panoramic views over Cape Le Grand National Park and the coastline. This granite outcrop holds a significant place in local Aboriginal culture. As you reach the summit after a steep, strenuous hike, look for a large cave, carved by waves and sea currents over millions of years. Wear sturdy hiking shoes and avoid climbing in rainy weather. Frenchman's Peak Reviews
more »Very good scenery overlooking the Cape Le Grand is looking down from the top. Will not fit had softened panorama taken by a camera was magnificent. On one side the blue sea and the blue sky, the other side green trees and blue sky. So along the way are craggy rock climbing shoes have been recommended that the firm of facing climb sole shoes, preferably. I think with a thin towel I wipe away the sweat.
T’was a decent climb needing effort and grit but I did it! The teens trundled up with little huffing and puffing, my husband also needed little rest and I was fitter than I thought! A great effort and... more »
Great views from the top. Steep climb in some areas so you must be reasonably fit. Just follow the signs to the peak. We went in summer but I can just imagine the wildflowers in spring!
Frenchmans Peak This is a climbable mountain or peak – but only on dry days. It is never going to be easy as it is very steep and a grade 4 hike but well worth it for the views. We didn’t climb it this time because wet weather as imminent and that would have been dangerous, but it is still worth a good look from all angles as the granite that comprises this monolith appears to change colour depending on what the sun is doing. It is one of the first things you see in Cape Le Grand
