Trip Planner: Australia / Western Australia / Kimberley Region / Fitzroy Crossing / Geikie Gorge National Park
Take a guided boat tour through Geikie Gorge National Park, cut deep into an ancient limestone reef by the Fitzroy River. Though most of this impressive gorge is protected and closed to the public, flat-bottomed tourist boats sail through several of its sections regularly, offering numerous opportunities to observe the native wildlife. The park is home to a diverse fauna, including flying foxes, numerous water birds, and freshwater crocodiles. Tackle a walking trail along the western bank of the river to see the exposed and distinctly colored fossil-bearing layers of the gorge. You can also try swimming near a long sandbank at the junction of the Margaret and Fitzroy Rivers. Call ahead or check online for tour availability and departure times. For travelers who use our international travel planner, Fitzroy Crossing holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Geikie Gorge National Park and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

Our day trip to Geikie Gorge National Park has been one of the high lights of our travels the flora and fauna was unbelievable and the chance to be able to get up close and personal with the wildlife made it all that more exciting. The guide was very friendly and informative. It was incredible to see the high water marks on the cliff face. Please like this review if you found it helpful.
The park was closed for cultural reasons. We appreciate that but we were embarrassed when asked to leave. We would of appreciated a sign on the road at the main turn off. We were told there was but on checking on our way out there was NO sign only one at the gate right at the park. Could of saved us 30 kl. Sorry to the local community for entering the park.
