The Tasman Island, part of the Tasman Island Group, is an oval island with an area of, lying close to the south-eastern coast of Tasmania, Australia. The island is located in the Tasman Sea, situated off the Tasman Peninsula and is contained within the Tasman National Park.
The island is a plateau surrounded by steep dolerite cliffs, with its highest point above sea level (asl) and an average plateau height of asl. It is the site of the Tasman Island Lighthouse and weather station, which has been automated since 1976 and unmanned since 1977.
PlantsThe island was once thickly forested. The forest has largely disappeared as a result of cutting the trees for firewood and of intense fires. When the lighthouse was manned the keepers kept livestock, including cattle, sheep and draught horses, and maintained grassland for their grazing. Areas of grassland remain along with other vegetation communities of heathy scrub, regenerating scrub, sheoak woodland, sedgeland and coastal mosaic. An important plant present is the rare Cape Pillar Sheoak.

  • It is a word of satisfaction. It was a tour that made you feel the charm of Bruni, with its smooth travel to friendly guides, delicious lunches and a thrilling and fun cruise experience as if it were an adventure. Because it was a cruise, I was impressed by the appearance of nature which can be discovered and wild seals and dolphins. When you go, please join us!

  • Such an amazing we had today!! Both the boat crew (I think Ben and another lady) did such an amazing job in settling everyone in and looked after everyone very well. Loved every bit of the details and commentary by Ben. So much information and they are so good at it!!
  • Great crew, stunning scenery and wildlife. We had a fabulous time! Pack gloves, beanies, coats etc. as it is very cold on the water even in summer.
