  • I loved this hike! It's 5 km up and 5 km down with beautiful view of the landscape and a nearby mine. There are some parts which might be bit challenging and include bit of rock climbing but it's all ...  more »
  • The complete ascent of Mount Bruce (alt 1235 M 2nd Mountain of the WA) is quite difficult but do not deprive yourself to go to the first station: "Marando View" which is very easy to access (500m from the car park). This walk of 45mn accessible to the children already gives a very beautiful view on the enormous iron ore mine of Marando and on the mounts of the Karijini NP. I would like to thank the mining company Rio Tinto which allows individuals to use the private route between Millstream and Tom Price after obtaining an online permit. This road along the railway line of the company is a pleasant shortcut between Karratha and the NP Karijini. We meet a lot of animals and the traffic is very very fluid (1 to 3 cars per hour...). On the other hand, the railway activity of iron ore transport is incessant with these immense trains of 234 wagons. It is important to be aware of the importance of mines in Australia (even more so in WA). These three-locomotive trains are very long, dusty and slow but they are just as beautiful to photograph as the magnificent Japanese Shinkansen which is synonymous with cleanliness + punctuality + speed. The French TGV is synonymous with delay;)

  • We walked at 4.00am in the moonlight with no torches and made it to the top by 6.10am for first light and 6.45am sunrise. A truly magnificent experience. We were back at the carpark by 9am. Some hard/dangerous bits but a beautiful hike.
  • Beautiful barefoot hike! Its a little bit windy but hands down a great experience with an incredible view. If you are looking for a change of scenery after spending a few days down in the gorges I would highly reccomend Mt Bruce as your next stop.
