Wentworth Falls, Katoomba

#2 of 9 in Parks in Katoomba
Situated within the Blue Mountains World Heritage National Park, Wentworth Falls is the largest waterfall in the region, featuring two drops. The waterfall is near several aboriginal sites estimated at being around 20,000 years old. A lake formed by the cascading waterfall is a popular picnic spot, located just a short walk from the nearby village. You can swim or join the Darwin's Walk tour, named after Charles Darwin, who visited and researched the area. Be prepared for a lot of steps on the various walks offered, which can take you to the waterfall or to the nearby viewing platform. These steep trails are meant for all fitness levels, but be sure to wear comfortable shoes. Add Wentworth Falls and other attractions to your Katoomba trip itinerary using our Katoomba travel app .

  • We walked the Charles Darwin track to Wentworth Falls which was very scenic. The falls are very beautiful so are well worth a visit I would do the under cliff walk for better view of the falls.  more »
  • Wentworth falls is a total treat with amazing views all round. We started off with the short 20 minute walk sure to our 3.5yr old son's little legs. We then tried for a little further but didn't get t...  more »

  • What an amazing waterfall! The rocks were covered in ice, which made for a magical sight. Very steep in sections going to the bottom of the falls. Recommend moderate level of fitness to get to the bottom, but the walk to the top of the falls is quite easy. No pram or disabled access as there are large gaps in the track, and stepping rocks across the falls. Definitely worth seeing. Public toilets at the carpark were clean. We saw some lyrebirds, and a big flock of cockatoos. Pretty amazing day.
  • A great fun walk with some of the most magnificent views around. The falls are simply enchanting and the walk while long and steep it well worth the view. It's great fun with some buddies but I wouldn't bring any really little kids, just because they would get pretty tired. There was also a small amount of litter which was disappointing but there wasn't too much. Overall a great experience.
  • Its about 30 minutes hike down hill to find this little paradise. The trail is stepped and really steep. Generally going down is no issue for many, but coming back up requires a certain level of fitness. If you can climb up an almost vertical steps for 30 minutes, then you are good to go. View is nice and offered a different perspective from down below. Highly recommended.
  • Simply GORGEOUS. Amazing scenic view, refreshing air, and best place to do leg workout. There is an easy path for hiking and there is medium path also. The view is simply mesmerizing. A bit far from the city of Sydney around 1.5 hours drive, but it's totally worthed 👌
  • Wentworth Falls is a must see just like the Three Sisters. Just after a relatively short treck you'll arrive at the Wentworth Falls waterfall which is magnificent. The waterfall falls down into the forest down below. As you keep making your way down you'll see better and better angles of the waterfall. Defiantly a must see.
