Kuranda Koala Gardens Reviews
One if not the only place that will allow you to cuddle with a koala. Sweet surprise that I almost overlooked in Kuranda. No lines, few people at the gardens. Saw the nocturnal display, fed a kangaroo... more »
You pay nearly 20$ to get in and then another 20$ to get your photo taken. There are just 4 Koalas to see, some crocodiles, turtles and kangaroo. Overall extremely small, didn’t expect it for the pric... more »
I absolutely loved this place. You get to experiences Australia's famous wildlife first hand. The wallaby and kangaroo enclosure is awesome. You can just sit and hang out while the little guys hop around you and eat from your hands. The koala experience was a little disappointing. They hand you a koala, snap a picture and take him away immediately. Would be nice if they let you enjoy the experience for a minute. Also the handler didn't seem to thrilled about having to do this part of the gig. Overall the facility is well maintained. Animals looked happy, clean and healthy (don't let other comments fool you, they're animals they don't smell perfectly shampooed). Staff was incredibly kind. Highly recommend getting the early 830 am bus from cairns. It's $7 and I was the only person in the park for about an hour until the tourists flooded in. Would 100% go bacj
The Kuranda Koala Gardens is situated in the village of Kuranda near Cairns in Australia's Northern Territory. This is among a few other attractions there for visitors to enjoy. This place is basically a petting zoo where you can touch the indigenous animals and take pictures with them. Great for families with small children. Be sure to wash your child's hand thoroughly after touching the koalas as they don't seem to be keeping the animals clean! The overall experience was good however the animal keeper and caretaker should be a little more patient with the children, my child got yelled at for venturing into the open wallaby enclosure!
