Ever wonder what it’s like to be a pioneer or a stockman, looking after the livestock in remote Australia? Australian Stockman's Hall of Fame and Outback Heritage Centre proudly displays objects and images from the bygone days, honoring the greatest and bravest explorers and Aborigines from the outback. Navigate through the galleries to understand why the founder and a former stockman himself, Hugh Sawrey, wanted to create a tribute to the unsung heroes and pioneering spirit. Admire the building from outside, and its stunning design from timber, stone and corrugated iron, reminiscent of the outback. Walk next door to visit a sandstone cottage complete with hand-edged timber, which is now an information center and a library. • magnificent. presentation is excellent. a must place to visit while in longreach. good parking. full wheelchair accessible. great value for money. the displays cover the complete outback living and there is something for everyone.
  • Really disappointed- lovely building though exhibits are clinical, poorly illuminated and information is difficult to see/read. It feels like a city museum rather than a country/ outback museum designed by city people. Definitely left disappointed as I had expected it to be highlight of our visit to Longreach.
