  • It's a great local zoo. They do lots of conservation as well. It gets crowdy on the weekends and during school holidays. However, during weekdays you can often take your time take photos undisturbed. During summer they sometimes have night events, which is fun too. Definitely worth checking them out. Become a member is definitely worth while if you consider going there more than once a year. The membership also allow you to go to many other zoos around Australia for free.
  • One of the best zoo's we have visited .. it is very close to the Melbourne city centre and very popular with the locals and the tourists.. it's a must visit when in Melbourne.. the kids love the place and lots of learning experience for them. The zoo layout is well planned and animal enclosure are been made as per their natural habitat..
  • This place is a marvellous choice. Plenty of parking and also accessible by Melbourne's tram network. There are plenty of animals to see and they are all cared after wonderfully. All animals look healthy and have plenty of stimulating items to interest them. Enclosures are kept clean and zoo staff are usually around to explain how their animals are kept. Recently Melbourne zoo has also declined to sell any products that contain palm oil which is a brilliant step to conserve the rainforests of Borneo.
  • Great staff. The zoo doesn't look so big, but you can easily spend the whole day there with kids. 6 cafes around the zoo, easy to grab lunch and coffee. Entry fee is about 37 bucks, annual pass is 111 bucks per adult. Not hard to find a parking space on weekdays. $2 for 5 hours.
  • A great place to take the kids on school holidays or at any time really. This is a big zoo so plan to spend a few hours wandering around. One of my favourite places is the reptile house which is quite big and has a large variety of snakes and lizards and everything in between. The raised walkway through the lions den is another good place to visit.
