Ross Hill Wines, Orange

#6 of 19 in Wineries in Orange
Ross Hill Wines is a family run operation established in 1994 by Peter and Terri Robson with son James and his wife Chrissy now leading the reins. It is the first Australian winery to be certified under the NCOS Carbon Neutral Program.

The two vineyards, Wallace Lane & Griffin Road, are planted in mature basalt soils at high altitudes that carry through into the wines.

Varieties planted include Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Shiraz, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

Our Cellar Door is located at the end of Wallace Lane in the cool climate region of Orange in the Central West of NSW. Here, in an old, converted apple packing shed, you’ll find award winning winemakers, Phil & Rochelle Kerney (and their two assistant sausage wine dogs!) hard at work. Come and meet our friendly team who will take you on the Ross Hill journey. Winery tours commence daily at 10am sharp.

Stop by sometime.

  • I really enjoyed the winery tour held at 10am each day. I think it would be really interesting to see some of the work being done one day, so maybe I'll have to come back! The wines at Ross Hill weren't quite to my tastes, but I prefer Ross Hill over Philip Shaw's wines. There are 1-2 wines I quite liked at Ross Hill, but overall I don't think they're good value for what they are. The tasting experience was quite good. It is a sit down tasting and they talk you through the characteristics of the wine and compare the same type of wines next to each other which some places don't do.
  • My husband and I dropped in for a quick tasting before having to make the long trip home, however it turned into an hour long event as we were having such an excellent time and were so well looked after by Belinda! We only tried red wines, and most of what we tasted was purchased. My favourites were the different shiraz wines from both ranges. Thank you James for sneaking me the 2016 Shiraz! After tasting it at Ferment, I knew I had to come to this cellar door. Will definitely come back with more wine enthusiasts in tow.
