Located on a former brickworks site, Queens Gardens includes lakes filled with water lilies, huge displays of flowers, sprawling lawns, and a Peter Pan statue, replicated from a figure located in London’s Kensington Gardens. The park opened to the public in 1898, and during the years leading up to World War I, often served as an elegant garden party venue. A bench located at the very center of the park was gifted to the city of Perth by an anonymous donor, after a failed marriage proposal to his girlfriend. The bench, featured in the movie "Notting Hill," is inscribed "To June who loved this garden from Joseph who always sat beside her." PARK BENCH FROM NOTHING HILL MOVIE!!! I couldn't believe that the bench used in the movie was there. A man from Perth bough it in an auction to impress a lady. She didn't accept to date him, so he donate the bench to the city. You need to check it! Also, the park is quiet and beautiful. A nice place to walk, meditate, do yoga or just relax.
Beautiful botanic gardens & park down the east end of town. Meticulously maintained. Peaceful oasis.
