Trip Planner: Australia / New South Wales / Greater Newcastle / Cessnock / Pokolbin / Iron Gate Estate
The hand crafted wrought-iron gates flanking our entrance reflect our hand crafted approach to wine-making. Great care has been paid to the detail of our winery and wines. Our tasting room features a welcoming fireplace, hand painted tiled tasting bar, and and an outdoor tasting area with gentle fountains and views to our vines. There are few wineries in the Hunter where you can see all of the vines on which the wine you are tasting has been grown.Arrange to visit Iron Gate Estate and other attractions in Pokolbin using our Pokolbin trip planner .

A group of 20 girls including myself were on a hens weekend. We visited this winery at the beginning of the day. Our host & wine tasting guide at Iron Gate was Jade, and she was very rude to our group... more »
Super friendly staff, great knowledge, relaxed atmosphere. The wines were all easy drinking, with a great representation of the Hunter region. The cellar door had a nice Mediterranean feel and the premise was tidy and ready for tasting. We were served by an accommodative, knowledgeable and easygoing staff member. She took us through the whole selection of wines, explaining the background of each while giving us space to indulge and experience them on our own. She even gave the puppy in our group a bowl of water to cool down on a hot day - we really appreciated the attention to detail. Overall, we have an awesome experience at the Iron Gate cellar door. Would come again.
Went to Iron Gate Estate on a wine tour. Beautiful property and vineyards so went out to the courtyard to take pictures as it was so gorgeous and our tasting table wasn't ready. We were outside for a few minutes taking pics and when we went back inside our wine tasting guide made the comment that we were more interested in taking selfies than learning about wine. Condescending attitude which ruined the experience for me. Otherwise she appeared to know her wines and was very knowledgable. Lovely property and good wines.
