  • We had a small issue with missing the bus as we were waiting near the reception and thought that they would call us. We had to make our own way to the marina and nearly missed it but other than this this was the most memorable experience ever. The difference is that you get marine biologists who are passionate about what they do, they study the reef and you go snorkeling rather than diving thus not destroying but observing the reef. Also the sights we stopped were 3 and all of them were amazing and there was something stunning to see. I could not get out of the water. There are less people on this cruise too which is nice as it is not that crowded. Finally although they try to take you in groups to find turtles and sharks. I was swimming on my own and the turtle came right next to me. It was unbelievable showing its small head on top of the surface and diving back in. We also swum with a shark and variety of fish. Food is also nice and fresh and they take lovely photos. There is additional charge but they are really worth it.
  • What an excellent tour – extremely well organised, very helpful and friendly staff, and a full day of three long snorkels on different parts of Opal Reef. We had about 45 people on board but it never felt crowded and once in the water there is plenty of space to explore at your own pace or with a group. The snorkelling guides provided full and frank explanations of coral reef biology, fish and turtle species and the reality and causes of the two recent coral bleaching events (summers of 2016/7). We really appreciated the focus on marine biology and conservation and the detailed explanation of how human-induced climate change is now fundamentally threatening the viability of the world’s coral reefs. I hadn’t appreciated the extent of bleaching even on these beautiful outer reefs and the guides did a great job showing us the difference between healthy and dead corals and the changing biology of the reef system. An amazingly beautiful ecosystem with a plethora of multi-coloured reef fish (a school of large Bump-Headed Parrot Fish and oyster-crackers were a highlight), and we also got to see several green turtles and a few reef sharks close up. If you visit Cairns or Port Douglas this is the tour to do – thoroughly recommended!
  • What can I say, I booked to go snorkeling with the wife. Injured myself beforehand. Didn't think I'd be able to go so cancelled. Day before scheduled to go I felt tons better and despite having sold my place they managed to fit me in so I could go along with my wife. (Huge thanks for that Donna!) So glad I did because we both had a fantastic day. Staff are great, courteous and knowledgeable. Provided food was great, lovely to have a bit of cake after each dive. Lunch was THE best on any tour we've ever been on, anywhere in the world. I am a glasses wearer and have snorkeled before and everything has been a blur without my specs. These guys have prescription insert goggles, just ask them (handy if you know your prescription roughly). Being able to see the fish properly is unreal! If I could give Wavelength six stars i would without a moment's hesitation. Loved it. If you're not sure on whether to go, just do it. You will not regret it.
  • Incredible company to tour the reef with. All staff were extremely knowledgeable marine biologists, very happy to chat about their research or answer any questions. So helpful, happy and friendly all day. Food supplied was great, tea and coffees. So helpful with seasickness issues too! I would absolutely recommend spending a little extra, going to Port Douglas and seeing the reef with Wavelength, we left with a really good understanding of what we had seen during the day and had a wonderful experience.
  • The boat was big and clean. The staff was very nice and knowledgeable. Fruit platters were prepared after the first and third dive, lunch was ready after the second dive. Make sure you take travel sickness pills beforehand. They have really good ones available for purchase, highly recommend buying some from them. We also stopped a few times when a whale was spotted. Really good experience with this company.
