Sydney Harbour National Park, Sydney

4.7
#5 of 18 in Nature in Sydney
Visit tranquil islands and sheltered beaches, and get a grip on the rich pre- and post-colonial history of New South Wales at Sydney Harbour National Park. You can learn about Sydney’s past on a guided tour, getting a taste of rich Indigenous, colonial, and military heritage, as well as enjoying the natural aquatic reserves and archipelagos. The park itself offers excellent swimming spots, hiking trails, and rest areas, with the cultural intrigue of seeing Indigenous reburial sites where ancestral remains have been returned. Observe native wildlife as you gaze out over the ocean--if here in winter, you might even see whales on their annual migration. • Very nice park, interesting to see the old gun emplacements. Easy to park and very well kept roads. Nice to see the old gobble stone road from the past -- Find my review helpful? Please click like /👍 much appreciated --
  • This is almost a hidden secret - everyone has heard of Sydney's famous beaches but few seem to know of parks such as these. There are several locations which together form the Park but there are many options of either seeing local fauna, wildlife, perhaps even have a swim at one of the several beaches.
  • Strategically placed inbetween North Head and Southern entrance of Sydney Harbour, one can see the historical remnants of a once functioning military base. Today it offers a unique and stunning viewing platform of Sydney Harbour loved by artists, hikers, photography enthusiasts and those seeking time out in fresh air by the sea.
  • It's a beautiful place With many wonderful views Very nice place to visit For couples Families Even just to cruise out by yourself
  • Picturesque scenery on this section of track with some birdlife due to number of banksias. There is toilets but no other facilities within the park which borders a navy base. Reasonably easy and accessible from Sydney. The waves are a bit strong for toddlers but older kids are ok to get in.
