Monkey Mia, Western Australia

3.5
Surrounded by reddish sand dunes and white sand beaches, Monkey Mia is one of the iconic tourist destinations in Western Australia. The crystal waters of the reserve--teaming with wildlife--attract nearly 100,000 visitors each year, who come for the opportunity to interact with bottlenose dolphins. A guided tour of the Shark Bay Marine Park offers a glimpse of other marine species as well, including dugongs, manta rays, and turtles. For an insight into the area's cultural history, take a 1.5 km (1 mi) loop walk across dunes. Put Monkey Mia at the forefront of your travel plans using our Western Australia trip itinerary site .

  • The Dolphin family is which troupe or appears on the beach for the purpose of feeding because the wild dolphin's feeding time is over three times in the resort from morning to 10 o'clock. At other times, dolphins came to play and swam along the beach. In Japan, the spectacle which cannot be seen is very valuable. The resort also runs tennis courts, restaurants and dugong cruises. By the way, the entrance fee of the resort takes both the guest and the day visitor. The starry sky is wonderful at night. The Milky Way also looked good. The number of planes passing through the sky was much less impressive than when we observed the stars at the Grand Canyon in the United States. I think that it is a good place for an amateur star photography.

  • I love this place!! Just beautiful. Respect the dolphin ranges advice about areas you can swim in. Very informative talk in the morning. The new, larger resort is lovely and nicely done. Take a catama...  more »

  • Monkey Mia is the perfect place to see some Dolphins! Great beaches and the water is very clean. There are also some good restaurants. Definitely worth a visit! dolphin feeds in the morning. You will have to pay $12 per person to enter Monkey Mia.
  • We loved this place- it had friendly staff, great comfy accommodation, beautiful views and location, good restaurants, nice pool. The only let down was the dolphin feeding experience- it can get quite crowded, only a few dolphins may turn up and only a couple of people from the crowd get chosen to participate. You can't enter the water, you need to stay on the shoreline. Having said that, you do get to see plenty of dolphins throughout the day and evening casually swimming out the front of the resort which is fantastic to see. We really enjoyed our stay there.
