Atherton is a town and locality on the Atherton Tablelands within the Tablelands Region, Far North Queensland, Australia. Take a break from the city and head to Curtain Fig National Park and Granite Gorge Nature Park. Change things up with these side-trips from Atherton: Mamu Tropical Skywalk (in Innisfail), Millaa Millaa Falls (in Millaa Millaa) and Mareeba (Jaques Coffee Plantation & Mareeba Tropical Savannah and Wetland Reserve). And it doesn't end there: contemplate the long history of Historic Village Herberton, learn more about the world around you at The Crystal Caves, admire the sheer force of Nandroya Falls, and look for all kinds of wild species at Cathedral Fig Tree.

If you are flying in from Spain, the closest major airport is Cairns International Airport. In August, plan for daily highs up to 31°C, and evening lows to 19°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 31st (Sat) so you can travel back home.
