Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Mount Nelson Lookout and Constitution Dock. Step out of Hobart with an excursion to Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary in Brighton--about 30 minutes away. On the 4th (Sat), give your taste buds a day to remember with a local gastronomic tour. There's lots more to do: take in the pleasant sights at Battery Point Sculpture Trail, steep yourself in history at Hobart Convict Penitentiary, take in the views from Richmond Bridge, and see the interesting displays at Mawson's Hut Replica Museum.

Founded as a military outpost in 1826, Albany is the oldest town in Western Australia, just barely gaining this title by being settled two years earlier than Fremantle and Perth.
Kick off your visit on the 6th (Mon): don't miss a visit to Albany Wind Farm, take in the dramatic natural features at The Gap and Natural Bridge, take some stellar pictures from Rotary Lookout Albany, then see the interesting displays at National Anzac Centre, and finally appreciate the history behind Desert Mounted Corps Memorial.
