Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
Head to Farm Gate Market and The Wicked Cheese Co.for plenty of shopping. North Hobart and Puddleduck Vineyard are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Step out of Hobart to go to Brighton and see Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, which is approximately 30 minutes away. The adventure continues: stroll through Seven Mile Beach, kick back and relax at Long Beach, take in the awesome beauty at Mount Wellington, and take in the spiritual surroundings of St. David's Cathedral.

Melbourne to Hobart is an approximately 4-hour flight. You can also do a combination of ferry and car; or do a combination of ferry and bus. Traveling from Melbourne in January, expect nights in Hobart to be about the same, around 14°C, while days are slightly colder, around 26°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 6th (Sun) so you can travel to Eaglehawk Neck.
