Lying in the Tamar Valley and surrounded by forested hills, the grid-patterned city of Launceston boasts shaded avenues, vibrant street life, and a cosmopolitan atmosphere.
Start off your visit on the 15th (Tue): steep yourself in history at Woolmers Estate, identify plant and animal life at Tamar Island Wetlands, and then look for gifts at The Mill Providore Gifts & Gallery. On the 16th (Wed), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: take in the dramatic scenery at Lilydale Falls, do a tasting at Bay of Fires Winery, revel in the low prices at Lavender House The Perfumery, then learn about winemaking at Holm Oak Vineyards, and finally steep yourself in history at Brickendon Colonial Farm Village.
