Lying in the Tamar Valley and surrounded by forested hills, the grid-patterned city of Launceston boasts shaded avenues, vibrant street life, and a cosmopolitan atmosphere.
Start off your visit on the 13th (Mon): get engrossed in the history at Beaconsfield Mine & Heritage Centre and then view the masterpieces at The Mill Providore Gifts & Gallery. On the 14th (Tue), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: take in the exciting artwork at Design Centre Tasmania, then look for all kinds of wild species at Cataract Gorge Reserve, then take in the exciting artwork at Tasmanian Copper & Metal Art Gallery, and finally tour the pleasant surroundings at City Park.

Sydney to Launceston is an approximately 5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and bus; or do a combination of train, ferry, and bus. Devil's Corner Cellar Door and Gala Estate Vineyard are good opportunities to explore the local culture. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Coles Bay: Spring Vale Wines (in Cranbrook) and Melshell Oysters (in Swansea). Spend the 16th (Thu) exploring nature at Freycinet National Park. Next up on the itinerary: tour the pleasant surroundings at Wineglass Bay Lookout, learn about winemaking at Craigie Knowe Vineyard, enjoy the sand and surf at Coles Bay Jetty, and see majestic marine mammals with a dolphin and whale watching tour.

Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
Shop till you drop at Salamanca Market and Art Mob. Port Arthur Historic Site and Museum of Old and New Art are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Go for a jaunt from Hobart to Brighton to see Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary about 30 minutes away. And it doesn't end there: contemplate the long history of Cascades Female Factory Historic Site, savor the flavors at Cascade Brewery, take in nature's colorful creations at Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens, and see the interesting displays at Mawson's Hut Replica Museum.
