Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary and Seven Mile Beach. Step off the beaten path and head to Nature & Wildlife Tours and Nutgrove Beach. Take a break from Hobart with a short trip to The Sensory Tasmania in Richmond, about 30 minutes away. The adventure continues: take in nature's colorful creations at Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens, take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mount Wellington, tour the pleasant surroundings at Long Beach, and take a leisurely stroll along Constitution Dock.

Melbourne to Hobart is an approximately 4-hour flight. You can also do a combination of ferry and car; or do a combination of ferry and bus. While traveling from Melbourne, expect a bit cooler days and about the same nights in Hobart, ranging from highs of 26°C to lows of 14°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 15th (Tue) early enough to drive to Coles Bay.

Overlooking one of Tasmania's most scenic strips of coastline and serving as the gateway to Freycinet National Park, Coles Bay is home to just 500 permanent residents.
Kids will enjoy Freycinet National Park and Friendly Beaches. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Spiky Beach Conservation Area and Gala Estate Vineyard. Go for a jaunt from Coles Bay to Swansea to see Melshell Oysters about 46 minutes away. There's more to do: walk along Wineglass Bay Lookout and enjoy the sea views from Cape Tourville Lighthouse.

You can drive from Hobart to Coles Bay in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and taxi. Finish your sightseeing early on the 18th (Fri) so you can drive to Launceston.

Lying in the Tamar Valley and surrounded by forested hills, the grid-patterned city of Launceston boasts shaded avenues, vibrant street life, and a cosmopolitan atmosphere.
Kick off your visit on the 19th (Sat): look for all kinds of wild species at Tamar Island Wetlands and then appreciate the views at The Tamar Valley. On your second day here, look for all kinds of wild species at Cataract Gorge Reserve, then admire the striking features of Franklin House, and then stroll through City Park.

Ulverstone is a town on the northern coast of Tasmania, Australia on the mouth of the Leven River, on Bass Strait. Start off your visit on the 21st (Mon): look for all kinds of wild species at Wings Wildlife Park and then take in breathtaking views at Leven Canyon.
