Visit the city of Dubbo, the most populous urban area in the Orana Region, for an exciting and thriving multicultural city from which to explore the surrounding Great Western Plains.
You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Taronga Western Plains Zoo and Wellington Caves & Phosphate Mine. Step off the beaten path and head to Shoyoen Japanese Garden and Cameron Park. There's lots more to do: contemplate the long history of Old Dubbo Gaol, don't miss a visit to Alladins Cave Bottle House, get lost in a book at Macquarie Regional Library, and learn about winemaking at Red Earth Estate.

A planned city with streets laid out in elaborate, geometric patterns and founded specifically to serve as the capital of the emerging Australian state, Canberra has a self-sufficient atmosphere.
Kids will enjoy Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex and Batemans Bay Mini Golf. Step off the beaten path and head to The Original Gold Rush Colony Mogo and Room Escape Games. Step out of Canberra to go to Mogo and see The Mogo Lolly Shop, which is approximately 2 hours away. There's still lots to do: engage your brain at Questacon, ponder the world of politics at Parliament of Australia, explore the world behind art at National Gallery of Australia, and get engrossed in the history at Australian War Memorial.

Traveling by flight from Dubbo to Canberra takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of flight and bus.
