Lying in the Tamar Valley and surrounded by forested hills, the grid-patterned city of Launceston boasts shaded avenues, vibrant street life, and a cosmopolitan atmosphere.
On the 2nd (Mon), stroll around City Park. Keep things going the next day: see the interesting displays at National Automobile Museum of Tasmania, get engrossed in the history at Queen Victoria Museum & Art Gallery, then appreciate the views at The Tamar Valley, and finally view the masterpieces at Art Gallery at Royal Park.

Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
Museum-lovers will get to explore Maritime Museum of Tasmania and The Parsonage. Visiting Russell Falls and Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary will get you outdoors. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Hobart: Tinderbox Marine Reserve (in Tinderbox) and Derwent Estate (in Granton).
