Lying in the Tamar Valley and surrounded by forested hills, the grid-patterned city of Launceston boasts shaded avenues, vibrant street life, and a cosmopolitan atmosphere.
Kick off your visit on the 9th (Wed): steep yourself in history at Woolmers Estate and then stroll through City Park. Here are some ideas for day two: look for all kinds of wild species at Cataract Gorge Reserve, then take in the views from Alexandra Suspension Bridge, then discover the riches below the earth's surface at Beaconsfield Mine & Heritage Centre, and finally do a tasting at Velo Winery & Cellar Door.

Overlooking one of Tasmania's most scenic strips of coastline and serving as the gateway to Freycinet National Park, Coles Bay is home to just 500 permanent residents.
We've included these beaches for you: Wineglass Bay Lookout and Spiky Beach Conservation Area. Get some cultural insight at Devil's Corner Cellar Door and Craigie Knowe Vineyard. When in Coles Bay, make a side trip to see Melshell Oysters in Swansea, approximately 46 minutes away. Spend the 12th (Sat) exploring nature at Freycinet National Park. The adventure continues: see majestic marine mammals with a dolphin and whale watching tour and explore and take pictures at Coles Bay Jetty.

Kick off your visit on the 14th (Mon): get to know the fascinating history of Port Arthur Historic Site, identify plant and animal life at Tasmanian Devil Unzoo, and then steep yourself in history at Australian Convict Sites. On the 15th (Tue), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: don't miss a visit to Remarkable Cave, then get to know the fascinating history of Cape Raoul, and then hike along Three Capes Track.

Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
Get some historical perspective at Cascades Female Factory Historic Site and Hobart Convict Penitentiary. Get a sense of the local culture at Museum of Old and New Art and Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery. Step out of Hobart to go to Brighton and see Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, which is approximately 30 minutes away. On the 18th (Fri), give your taste buds a day to remember with a local gastronomic tour. There's still lots to do: appreciate the extensive heritage of Battery Point Sculpture Trail, enjoy the sand and surf at Kingston Beach, take in nature's colorful creations at Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens, and examine the collection at Mawson's Hut Replica Museum.
