Settled by colonists and convicts in 1829, Fremantle has transformed its infamous historical buildings into cultural centers.
Kick off your visit on the 3rd (Thu): steep yourself in history at The Fremantle Round House, take in the exciting artwork at Glen Cowans' Studio at the Roundhouse, then kick back and relax at City Beach, then contemplate the long history of Fremantle Prison, and finally don't miss a visit to Norm wrightson hairway.

Perth to Fremantle is an approximately half hour car ride. You can also take a train; or take a bus. In October, daily temperatures in Fremantle can reach 28°C, while at night they dip to 12°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 3rd (Thu) to allow enough time to drive to Margaret River.

A low-rise, laid-back town of approximately 4,500 inhabitants, Margaret River serves as an ideal local base to explore the surrounding wine region.
Your cultural itinerary includes sights like Vasse Felix Winery and Wise Wine. Discover out-of-the-way places like Surfers Point and Yallingup Beach. Explore Margaret River's surroundings by going to Dolphin & Whale Watching (in Busselton), Meelup Beach (in Dunsborough) and Canal Rocks (in Yallingup). There's still lots to do: enjoy the sand and surf at Hamelin Bay, stop by Gabriel Chocolate, cruise along Caves Road, and tour the pleasant surroundings at Gnarabup Beach.

Albany

Founded as a military outpost in 1826, Albany is the oldest town in Western Australia, just barely gaining this title by being settled two years earlier than Fremantle and Perth.
Step out of the city life by going to Dolphin & Whale Watching and Emu Point. Your itinerary includes some good beach time at Middleton Beach and Little Beach. Take a break from Albany with a short trip to Bluff Knoll in Stirling Range National Park, about 1h 20 min away. There's more to do: examine the collection at Western Australian Museum - Albany.

You can drive from Margaret River to Albany in 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or do a combination of bus and flight. Expect a daytime high around 23°C in October, and nighttime lows around 10°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 10th (Thu) to allow enough time to travel to Broome.

A relaxed town of tree-shaded streets and scenic coastal stretches, Broome gained renown as a center of the pearling industry in the late 19th century.
Your inner history buff will appreciate Catholic Diocese of Broome and Japanese Cemetery. Relax by the water at Roebuck Bay and Cable Beach. There's lots more to do: get up close to creatures of the deep with a dolphin and whale watching tour, view the masterpieces at The Courthouse Collection, head outdoors with Staircase To The Moon, and see the interesting displays at SSJG Heritage Centre.

You can fly from Albany to Broome in 5 hours. Other options are to do a combination of bus and flight; or drive. In October, Broome is warmer than Albany - with highs of 39°C and lows of 28°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 13th (Sun) early enough to travel back home.
